EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The increasing concerns about dwindling biological resources due to demographic pressure, habitat destruction, environmental pollution, and other related causes led to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in 1992. In pursuance of CBD, the Indian Parliament passed the Biological Diversity Act 2002 for conservation of biodiversity, sustainable use of its components, and fair & equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the use of biological resources and associated traditional knowledge.
